Composite
Composite
Composite is a material composed of two or more source materials, where the characteristics of the composite are superior to those of the source materials. Examples include resin types, glass fibre, fibre-reinforced plastics and concrete. Composites that have been developed for particularly high performance use fibres that further strengthen the strength of materials such as carbon and graphite.
Applications of composite products
Composite products are used for applications that require a strong but light material. The largest market for these materials is the automotive industry, where components must meet these criteria. Sports articles such as hockey sticks, parts and helmets and canoes are also examples of specialised use of composites that are cut into the right shapes using water jet cutting.
