The company scores above average on several indicators of innovation. the jury praises "the combination of the company to enter both new solutions and new markets." This includes for example the development of the ACM waterjet whereby Resato is one of the few parties - worldwide - who is producing such a solutions in-house. One judge called the company "a hidden champion of the Dutch industry." The change from a product-oriented to a more market-oriented organization has not gone unnoticed in the decision.

According to jury member Henk Volberda Resato deserves the prize for more then just the products it provides. "The company invests a lot in research and development, and they have an innovative business organization with room for initiatives and ideas from employees," he says on Dutch Radio 1.

The jury indicated that Resato International "is an important employer in the North of the country." Professor Volberda, jury president, says the company is one of the best examples of social innovation: room for personal initiative of employees, room for error, knowledge sharing and learning are high on the agenda at Resato. All in all, the winner of the Erasmus Innovation Award 2015 is an example of how changes in technology and the organization complement each other.
